Graduate Programme

Use your degree to make a difference in the lives of
children with autism.

The Abbey School Graduate Programme

At Abbey School, we believe that all children and young people with autism deserve a safe and nurturing environment that will provide them with a bespoke school curriculum and support plan to maximise their learning and prepare them for adult life.

That’s why we are proud to offer the graduates the opportunity to apply to our three week Graduate Training Programme that has been created in strategic partnership with two leading UK universities.

Based in the heart of Chester City Centre, our programme is designed to invite graduates to shadow and learn from our multi-disciplinary team.

At the end of the three weeks, a number of successful graduates will be offered a permanent Learning Mentor role from September 2022. If accepted, we will pay a summer retainer fee of £500 and from September they will receive a starting salary of £21,350 p/a, term time only.

Roles & Responsibilities

Designed to give you a true insight into the level of bespoke care and attention we give to our pupils with autism, our graduates will be able to shadow our Learning Mentors and find out more about the roles of our behavioural analysts, occupational therapists, and speech and language specialists.

This brilliant opportunity provides graduates with an in-depth look at how we support children and young people with autism in a nurturing and understanding environment - alongside learning about our school’s ethos, BAG’s framework, and long-term vision.

You will also observe our teachers - who are responsible for planning, delivering, monitoring and assessing teaching and learning for their class group - so you can hit the ground running, should you remain with us at the end of the programme.

How to apply

Download and complete our application form here:

Please send your application to recruitment@abbeyschool.com by 9am on 20th June 2022.

Candidates will then be shortlisted to attend a short formal interview.

Successful candidates will be appointed to start on 4th July for three weeks, until the end of term - which is 22nd July. Successful candidates will be expected to work full-time hours (08:45 – 16:45), which is the same as our Learning Mentors and Teachers.
